Then winemaker, Nigel Dolan decided to release a group of wines that highlighted what the Barossa Valley did best, rich, honest and vibrant reds of consistent quality. Since its release Pepperjack Shiraz has become Australia’s Number 1 red wine by value and it’s Cabernet Sauvignon is Australia’s Number 1 Cabernet Sauvignon priced $19 and above.

Pepperjack is a tribute to the Barossa's rich heritage. The winemaking team has respect for traditional winemaking techniques and is also dynamic and imaginative. The Pepperjack winemakers are conscious of modern wine styles, and are creating wines that reflect their passion for this special region.

The Pepperjack wines are rich and honest - showcasing the Barossa's outstanding qualities.

Pepperjack’s brand essence is one of rugged sophistication - a unique, rich wine, yet unpretentious and casual. Pepperjack offers consistency and confidence for lovers of red wine, making it a respected brand and go-to for gifts, casual drinking and food accompaniments. Pepperjack is a bold, rich, Barossa red with the backbone to stand up to a great steak. This is a combination that Pepperjack drinkers love.

Just as different cuts have different flavours, texture and appeal - so does wine. This led winemaker Richard Mattner and head chef of Salter's restaurant at Saltram, Scott Liddell, to experiment with different steaks to create two wines that perfectly suit the characters of either a scotch fillet or porterhouse. These wines are the Pepperjack Graded McLaren Vale Scotch Fillet Shiraz and the Pepperjack Graded Langhorne Creek Porterhouse Shiraz.
